Victor Vasarely

Victor Vasarely (1906-1977) was born in Pécs, Hongaria and he died in Paris. He was one of the most important artists of the ‘Op-Art’, (optical art), a geometric abstract art-form who became very popular in Europa en the United States in the sixties. He was born as Gyōzō Csiszàr, later he called himself Gyōzō Vàsàrhelyi. He started his education at the university of Budapest in 1925 where he studied Medicines. In 1927 he broke up and started drawning  at the private school of Podolini Volkmann. He graduated in 1928 but continued in the way of BAUHAUS at the university of Budapest. In 1930 he moved to Paris.

In the beginning were the works of Vasarely with more contrast, actually in black-white. In later years he started working in colour. This edition is a perfect example of the works in which it seems that the colours starts vibrating.
